Back in 2016 I was invited in to talk on BBC Radio Gloucestershire about how I started my photography business and the wide range of clients I’ve encountered over the years.
This was the second time I’d been on BBC Radio Gloucestershire (the first was a phone interview after I won an award in 2014). However this time I was invited to go into the recording studio in Gloucester! The studio was very smart, with lots of BBC branding around, good to get some mild nerves pumping before going on air! I had lots of friends and family tuned in back home and one friend listened to me in the car on the way to work (and had a lovely giggle apparently!).
That week marked the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter and I had been pre-warned I’d need to reveal my favourite Beatrix Potter book. In the radio warm up session I said it was Tom Kitten, but on on-air I thought I’d throw him off the scent and say Jemima Puddle-Duck instead (a cheap thrill I know!).
The host Dominic was very friendly, as were his assistants, I felt at ease immediately. I was in the recording studio for about half an hour and had ten minutes of airtime which I thought was great for such a high profile station. The whole process was thoroughly enjoyable and listening back three years on I’m happy with how the interview went and managed to laugh at myself too!
If you fancy listening the recorded version of the show, I’ve popped it on soundcloud:
